Taecyeon reveals Boyfriend’s Youngmin and Kwangmin were once JYPE trainees

Recently, 2PM’s Taecyeon revealed his close relations to Boyfriend twins, Youngmin andKwangmin.

On the July 15th broadcast of KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank‘, 2PM came in first place for the third week in a row, and thus received the honorary triple crown award. While 2PM performed their encore stage, fans noted that Taecyeon playfully put the twins in a headlock, which generated quite the buzz. As it turns out, the twins were once former JYP Entertainment trainees!

Later on the same day, Taecyeon tweeted, “Thank you for [awarding us with] the #1 spot on ‘Music Bank’! Thank you to those who made our 3rd week win possible. 2PM’s “Hands Up” promotional activities will soon be over… Youngmin and Kwangmin were trainees with us when we were trainees as well. During the encore [performance], I brought them along but it was very awkward… Hyung is sorry.”

In response, netizens commented, “The JYPE trainees are a part of a wonderful network”, “It seemed like you were going to kidnap those kids”, “You must have been happy that you both participated in a show together”, and “Park Jin Young must have had another stomachache.”

Boyfriend Explains Why They Changed Their Choreography

Starting with last week’s episode of KBS’s ‘Music Bank‘, Boyfriend changed up their choreography for their adorable debut track, “Boyfriend“.

Ever since their debut, the boys have been known for their sweet aegyo point dance, but fans were concerned over their image being limited to just one image. In reflection of their concerns, as well as their desire to show something new, the boys decided to change up their choreography to something stronger.

They only had two days to come up with a new routine and rehearse it, but thanks to their pre-debut training, it wasn’t long before they had it all down. Two days later, the boys presented a flawless performance without any mistakes.

Leader Donghyun said, “We practiced really hard for two days. We didn’t pull all-nighters in order to keep up our stamina, but we rehearsed nearly all day long. You’ll be able to see a choreography that’s more powerful and masculine, so we hope you’ll look forward to us.”

[HOT NEWS] Miss Teen Indonesia 2011 Akan Membawa Enrique Iglesias, Tata Young, dan ‘BOYFRIEND’

Penyanyi idola banyak perempuan, Enrique Iglesias dipastikan akan datang ke Indonesia dan tampil dalam sebuah ajang road show Miss Teen Indonesia 2011. Selain Enrique [yang akan tampil membawakan 8 lagu], penyanyi perempuan asal Thailand, Tata Young [juga membawakan maksimal 8 lagu], serta boyband dari Korea yang bernama Boy Friend [rencananya hanya tampil membawakan tiga lagu] juga dipastikan akan tampil di sana. Kabar itu disampaikan Rudy Sutopo dari Wayang Sinema, pemilik resmi lisensi sekaligus Executive Producer Miss Teen Indonesia, Rabu [6/7] siang di konferensi pers yang digelar di Glass House, cafe di bilangan Wijaya, Jakarta Selatan.

Nama kontes tersebut memakai bahasa Inggris bukan tanpa alasan, karena kontes kecantikan itu adalah lisensi dari Donald Trump Organization [DTO], Global Promociones LLP, dan Nuestra Belleza Latina [Univision]. Proses pencarian remaja putri berbakat dari usia 13 – 18 tahun ini akan dilakukan melalui proses audisi yang diselenggarakan di 8 kota besar di Indonesia: Makassar dan Balikpapan [23 Juli], Bali dan Surabaya [6 Agustus], Yogyakarta dan Medan [13 Agustus], serta Jakarta dan Bandung [20 Agustus]. Ajang ini menggandeng Look Inc, sebagai modelling agency resminya. Miss Teen Indonesia 2011 rencananya akan dikemas menjadi program reality show dan akan ditayangkan di salah satu stasiun TV swasta sebanyak 17 episode, mulai 3 September mendatang.

Enrique dipilih karena dia berdarah latin. Menurut Rudy, banyak dari pemenang ratu kecantikan berdarah latin. Itu salah satu alasan mereka mengundang Enrique Iglesias—selain karena dia dianggap sebagai ikon anak muda: supaya dia bisa mempromosikan Miss Teen Indonesia ke skala internasional. “Pesannya buat orang-orang latin itu begini: Watch out, we will be your competitor!” kata Rudy penuh semangat. Sedangkan Tata Young yang dari Thailand, juga dipilih supaya mereka berhati-hati karena Indonesia bisa jadi pesaing. “Kalau Boy Friend karena banyak anak muda yang seneng,” kata Rudy. Selain tiga nama itu, road show Miss Teen Indonesia 2011 juga akan menampilkan Putri Ayu, remaja putri penyanyi yang sempat populer di ajang Indonesia Mencari Bakat yang digelar Trans TV.

Road show Miss Teen Indonesia 2011 akan digelar di Sentul International Convention Center pada Kamis [21/7] nanti. Pihak penyelenggara membagi tiket pertunjukkan menjadi tiga kelas: Platinum [Rp 1.750.000], Gold [Rp 1.250.000], dan Silver [Rp 750.000]. Tiket bisa didapat di rajakarcis.com atau toko Aquarius dan tempat-tempat lain yang biasa menjual tiket. Sedangkan ajang grand final untuk Miss Teen Indonesia 2011 akan digelar pada 15 Oktober 2011 di Central Park Jakarta—mereka akan mendatangkan mantan supermodel Tyra Banks dan Miss Universe 1991 Lupita Jones. Pemenang Miss Teen Indonesia 2011 akan dikirim ke ajang Miss Teen Global 2011. Untuk ajang grand final, pihak Wayang Sinema mengatakan akan mendatangkan Katy Perry. “Kami masih menunggu jawaban dari manajemen Katy Perry. Rencananya akhir Juli mereka sudah kasih jawaban. Tapi, kemungkinan sih 90 persen dia bakal datang,” kata salah seorang perwakilan Komite Miss Teen Indonesia 2011. “Kalaupun jadi datang, Katy Perry tidak akan cuma main tiga lagu seperti rumor yang beredar. Dia bakal tampil sesudah penganugerahan Miss Teen Indonesia 2011. Soal harga tiket, kami belum bisa menjawabnya.”

Boyfriend Wants Recognition for Their Musical Talent, Not Their Looks

Rookie idol group, Boyfriend, recently had an interview with Economy Today and expressed their sincere desire to gain recognition for their talents.

Compromised of six members, Boyfriend’s average age is just 17.5 years old. Three of the members recently entered high school and the oldest member is just 22 years old. Their pure and cute concept is reminiscent of Fin.K.L’s debut days, and a simple wink is all it takes to win a noona fan’s heart.

Despite their school-boy charms, Boyfriend possesses maturity with their determination and persistance to succeed. Boyfriend’s leader, Donghyun, trained under strict discipline for nearly five years. He woke up between 3 and 5AM to practice everyday, so the lack of sleep he endures right now is merely an opportunity for him to shine and make Boyfriend a nationally loved group like SNSD. He stated, “When I was a senior in high school, I was on a show called ‘Conduct Zero‘, and my current company’s CEO and president contacted me. I trained for five years and now I’m Boyfriend’s leader.”

Their self-titled debut single, “Boyfriend“, was created by the famous composer, Brave Brothers. The members practiced eight hours a day for two months to perfect their performance. Donghyun commented, “The song has a unique rhythm and melodious flow to it. It portrays a boy’s wish to be your boyfriend and stay by your side.”

Twins Youngmin and Kwangmin gained popularity for being “Kim Hyun Joong look-alikes”, andMinwoo was an actor before his singing debut. The twins modeled for a pictorial at the age of one and have starred in over 300 commercials to date. Minwoo debuted as an actor in a short film and received a ‘Best Actor’ award for his role.

Surprisingly, Youngmin also has prior acting experience from his role in Jang Dong Gun’s Hollywood debut film, ‘The Warrior’s Way‘. He stated, “The director wanted to meet me after seeing my profile, and I auditioned and got the role. I only met Jang Dong Gun sunbae while filming, and was unable to meet any of the foreign actors. I want to focus on singing first and try acting if I get the chance.”

All of the members, except Jungmin, received support from their families when they expressed their desire to become singers. Youngmin and Kwangmin’s father dreamed of being a singer himself and Minwoo’s mother recognized Minwoo’s love for standing on stage and supported him all the way.

On the other hand, Jungmin had to prove his talent to his parents before getting their consent. He personally entered in a song festival and brought an award home. His parents then gave him a chance to pursue a singing career. Jungmin stated, “When I was a third year in middle school, a hyung of mine performed on the streets of Hongdae. I saw the performance and was dazed by the guitar and djembe sounds. I thought to myself, ‘Ahh~ That’s cool‘ and ‘I want to perform at a place like that‘. You know, street performances are up close and personal. You can be more intimate with your audience. I want to try a performance like that someday.”

Boyfriend is often mistaken for being a group that wants to succeed with their looks, but they’ve made it certain that they want to be recognized for their musical talents. Donghyun, who dreamed of becoming a pianist as a child, wants to compose his own songs later on. Jungmin has plans to learn a variety of instruments and Kwangmin, who is a fan of Dynamic Duo, wants to write his own rap lyrics. Meanwhile, Hyunseung hopes to produce Boyfriend’s album five years from now.

Boyfriend adalah boyband baru dari agensi Starship Entertainment.


Meskipun baru terbentuk, Boyfriend sebenarnya berisi muka-muka yang sudah sering tampil di televisi Korea. Si kembar Kwang Min dan Young Min sudah membintangi lebih dari 300 iklan sejak mereka masih bayi. Sedangkan Min Woo pernah tampil di komedi situasi ‘All My Love’ serta menjadi model video klip.
